The recent earth quake in Chile, combined with ongoing port strikes in Finland, has severely reduced output from paper mills and resulted in a spike in the price of paper pulp.
Together Chile and Finland account for over 12% of the global pulp supply, and the sharp decrease in pulp supply will have a direct affect on the price of paper and board.
We are expecting prices on pulp derived packaging to inflate by as much as 30% over the forthcoming weeks.
